After a failed attempt to save all humanity from global warming, the only survivors are the people on a train that travels around the globe via a perpetual-motion engine. Where a class system evolves, the lower class lives in the rear and the upper class on the front.
The premise of this movie is beyond amazing, and the movie is very close to amazing. I didn't fell in love with it though, but it's a very good movie. I liked it, but I think I was expecting more of everything. More scenes that leave you thinking, more of how awful humans can be, etc. I'm just way into this type of movies, dystopia's, and I love dystopia's that show how awful we are as humans but how great we can be as well (ex.: Children of Men and Blindness). This movie has it but maybe not too much of how great we are as a community, it focus more on the hero. I have to talk about Tilda Swinton, because she was amazing in this, I couldn't recognize her and her acting as we know is excellent.
Unfortunately the director, Bong Joon-ho, faced some problems when the producers wanted him to cut some scenes and he refused. American's première date got pushed back and for now European dates are limited to a couple of countries. None for Portugal, I wouldn't keep my hopes up.
If you can see it in the cinema in your country, go see it, if you can't do like me and wait for the dvd.
