A fine art auctioneer mixed up with a gang joins forces with a hypnotherapist to recover a lost painting. As boundaries between desire, reality and hypnotic suggestion begin to blur the stakes rise faster than anyone could have anticipated.
I wanted to see this movie in the cinema when it came out, but at the time somehow I didn't saw it. And recently it came to my mind. When I saw the trailer I fell in love with it. I love movies like this, that fuck up with your brain to the point you don't know what's real. Since there's few of these movies it's natural that people compare Trance to Memento or Inception but I'll try and refrain to do so.
3/4 are confusing and messed up as I was expecting. I loved how we are lead to think different connections between the characters as new scenes develop. We are on constant wondering of what's the truth. Somehow when the truth was reviled to us I felt both surprised and let down. I don't know if was expecting something more dramatic or not, but now looking back into it, it seems fitting and I'm happy with it.
I could not talk about a Danny Boyle movie and not mention the cinematography. It was simply breathtaking. I loved everything about it, the colours used, the houses of the 3 main characters were completely different in architecture and decoration. My favourite house was without a doubt Simon's (James McAvoy) house, like I said previously I like Danish furniture.
P.S.: I normally refrain from using the movie poster on my blog posts but this one is so beautiful I had to, besides it sort of describes the movie better.
Have you watched Trance? What do you think of it?
