Divergent

Divergent is a thrilling action-adventure film/novel set in a world where people are divided into distinct factions based on human virtues. Tris Prior is warned she is Divergent and will never fit into any one group.

I saw Divergent a couple of days ago and since then I have read the book. I was surprised to see how close to the book the movie actually is. There's no big scene that's missing, everything is there and it's explained really well. In the book there's more flirtation between Tris and Four, which, to be honest, was the main reason I wanted to read the book, but I think the way they portrayed in the movie was just fine. After all the movie was already long as it is. Only thing that now looking back on it annoys me a little, is that Tris in the books is very small. She's smaller than everyone, smaller than Christine, and obviously in the movie she isn't. Now this isn't a big issue, and it's not like they should had cast a smaller actress, Shailene Woodley did a great job. But in the books she keeps mentioning how small she is, so yeah... Speaking of actors Theo James did an amazing job as Four, truly great. While reading the book I didn't imagined Tris as Shailene but I did imagine Four as Theo.

Like I said the movie is very faithful to the book and as far as young adult books go this is a good one. Dystopias is one of my favourite genres and now young adult ones are very much in vogue, which is good, but I think I'm a little bit passed that phase. And what I mean is when it comes to the true nature of a dystopia I prefer stuff like the movie Children of Men, the book Nineteen Eighty-Four, by George Orwell. For me those are the best examples of dystopias out there. They're violent, they're raw, they make you hate humanity a little bit and they make you think.
Saying that, I did not dislike this movie/book, but it doesn't fit well in that genre. This is target to young adults and that's how it should be perceived. And having that in count it is great. I liked it very much, otherwise I wouldn't have read the book.

I deffinately reccomend it, either if you're in the target audience or if you're older.

P.S.: How great was Four's tattoo on the movie? Just mesmerizing.
